AirSprint Private Aviation Set to Upgrade Fleet to Gogo 5G

Gogo Business Aviation, an industry giant in broadband connectivity services, has recently announced that AirSprint Private Aviation—the leading Canadian fractional operator—will begin upgrading its aircraft to Gogo 5G. The move, announced on October 17, 2023 at the NBAA-BACE in Las Vegas, also aligns AirSprint Private Aviation as Gogo’s first Canadian fleet customer.

James Elian, President & CEO of AirSprint, mentioned that the decision to upgrade to Gogo’s 5G system comes as part of the company’s continuous pursuit to provide superior service to its fractional owners. The Gogo 5G is expected to offer speeds five to ten times faster than current speeds, promising an average of 25 Mbps and peaking at around 75-80 Mbps. This impressive speed and coverage expansion will immensely enhance inflight connectivity (IFC) for aircrafts flying in or through Canada.

Sergio Aguirre, president and chief operating officer of Gogo, emphasised the strategic value of their 5G system for North American aircraft needing exceptional speeds. He noted that Gogo is the sole aviation business offering air-to-ground (ATG) connectivity in both Canada and Alaska. Aguirre added that coupled with their award-winning customer service, AirSprint customers will enjoy high performance and reliability from Gogo 5G on the best ATG network in the industry.

The agreement also includes an option for AirSprint to upgrade its midsize aircraft with HDX, Gogo’s Low Earth Orbit (LEO) global broadband solution, expected to be launched in the latter half of 2024. Gogo Galileo product line is designed for an easy upgrade to new technologies and networks. Any aircraft installed with a Galileo product will just need the HDX antenna addition to enjoy the benefits of the LEO network technology, increasing capacity and redundancy of coverage when paired with Gogo’s 5G.

Gogo, as of June 30, 2023, reported having its ATG systems onboard 7,064 business aircraft and 4,433 aircraft equipped with narrowband satellite connectivity.
