Vail Resorts Unveils AI-Powered App
Vail Resorts Inc. (NYSE:MTN) announced on March 18, 2024, the addition of “My Epic Assistant” to its My Epic app, a powerful service designed to boost guest experience at four Colorado resorts: Vail Mountain, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, and Keystone. The service, set to launch in the 2024/25 winter season, will be powered by advanced AI, and resort experts, providing real-time resort information at guests’ fingertips. The firm has plans to roll out this technology to more resorts in future seasons.
Chris Smith, chief information officer at Vail Resorts, commented on the development: “For more than a decade, we have been committed to improving the guest experience through the use of innovative technology. With the recent advancements in AI, we see an opportunity to provide real-time guest service so skiers and riders can navigate their day at our mountain resorts with confidence, efficiency and ease.”
The My Epic Assistant section of the app is poised to handle a broad spectrum of inquiries ranging from mountain conditions, general resort data, on-mountain activities, ski and ride school and rental support, parking, and more. By simply opening the app and asking My Epic Assistant, guests can avoid standing in line or making phone calls to have their questions answered. A live resort expert via chat or phone remains available for guests who chose this option.
This endeavor is part of Vail Resort’s continuous commitment to enhancing the guest experience and is expected to make the My Epic app a one-stop tool for skiers and riders. Beyond offering real-time updates on snow conditions or on-mountain support, the app also facilitates the purchase of mobile passes and lift tickets, tracks personalized statistics, displays interactive trail maps, lift line wait times, and real-time mountain conditions.
In the future, Vail Resorts anticipates significantly expanding the My Epic Assistant’s capabilities to include proactive, personalized recommendations and reminders based on an individual’s unique itinerary and preferences, as well as real-time booking and itinerary support.
For the 2024/25 winter season, My Epic Assistant will be accessible to guests using the My Epic app and it will cater to questions about four Colorado resorts: Vail Mountain, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone. The company also has plans to introduce the technology to additional resorts in upcoming seasons.
