CPI to Open New Manufacturing Facility in Fort Wayne
CPI Card Group Inc. (NASDAQ: PMTS), a Jeffco-based payments technology company, has announced plans to build a new manufacturing facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana in a bid to meet the evolving needs of its customers and drive innovation in the payment tech industry. The facility, aimed at bolstering long-term growth, will double the company’s footprint in Fort Wayne.
John Lowe, President and CEO of CPI, emphasized the company’s commitment to the local community. “CPI is proud to continue operating in the Fort Wayne community, where we are locally engrained with a high-performing team,” he said. He noted that the project marks a milestone for the company as the first factory built to their specifications in their nearly 30-year history.
The current operations of CPI will be transferred from their existing location, where they’ve been stationed for over 16 years. The construction process will commence this month, and the company anticipates that operations will begin in mid-2025. All Fort Wayne employees are expected to shift to the new facility by early 2026.
The new site will introduce key features to boost productivity. These include digital integration and automation to enhance data and equipment management, new equipment to improve on-brand capabilities, and attention to environmental sustainability as a part of the business strategy. CPI plans to incorporate software and automation tools like collaborative robots, conveyor systems, and inline production without affecting existing employees’ roles.
The company also expressed their commitment to efficiency and waste reduction with renewable energy alternatives and LEED certification considerations for the new facility.
